Chili as Simple as it is Delicious
This incredibly easy chili recipe is perfect for a crowd or for meal prepping for the week! I grew up eating this delicious chili at home, and was surprised by how little effort it takes to prepare! This recipe is definitely not gourmet in any sense of the word (the majority of the ingredients come from cans), but it hits the spot every. single. time. It’s easy, fast, and always a crowd pleaser! I’ve played around with different recipes, but I keep coming back to this one because it is just so good!
INGREDIENTS:
2 lbs ground beef
3 cans stewed tomatoes
3 cans diced tomatoes
1 small can of tomato paste
2 cans kidney beans
1 can black beans
3 packs chili seasoning (original)
salt
INSTRUCTIONS:
Cook the ground beef in large pot on the stove on medium heat. Once all the meat is browned, drain the grease and add in the chili seasoning packets. Add 1/2 - 1 cup of water and mix thoroughly so the meat is completely coated with the seasoning.
Add the cans of stewed tomatoes and stir. Use a fork + knife to cut up the tomatoes into smaller pieces. Then add the diced tomatoes and stir.
Drain the juice from the cans of beans, then add the beans and stir again.
Cover and let everything heat up until it begins to bubble, then add the tomato paste and stir well. Cover again, and let simmer on low for at least 30 min, stirring occasionally. Taste the chili, and add salt to taste. Stir well and let it sit a while longer. The longer you let it simmer the better it will taste, but we usually get impatient and dive in as soon as we can. (The leftovers are always SO good!)
Ladle the chili into bowls, then top with your favorite ingredients! My favorite combo is shredded cheese, sour cream, and cilantro!
